The Atmosphere creation process is made up of three different phases. Over time we are building pieces that represent what the word atmosphere means to us, and how it affects humanity.

Atmosphere originated as a short trio, created with the intention to be performed for an intimate audience in a presentational setting. Over time, the piece has been constructed throughout 3 phases. The first phase, the trio, was originally an installation piece that was meant for smaller spaces and a smaller audience. Phase II brought the piece to a larger theatre setting with the addition of a pas de deux, which could also be extracted as it's own individual performance. And the final phase of the process is the creation of a full evening length work, which also expands the cast further, and deepens the relationship with Paul Leonard-Morgan and the music.

The work is titled Atmosphere as a reference to both definitions of the word. Witnessing art brings out a unique opportunity to change perspectives, while accessing a unique peace of mind. The presentations purpose is to create an atmospheric space within any environment to give the mind a chance to breathe. It is also a gentle but obvious nod towards the delicate layers of our planet's atmosphere. ​

While considering our earths environment, we look more deeply into the different layers that make up our atmosphere. Each of the six layers consist of their own qualities that make them unique. As the creation process continues, each "vignette" of the ballet will designed to reflect the different attributes to each layer of atmosphere, while also using Pauls new musical composition to guide the process. To read more on the these layers and their descriptions, please visit the nasa webpage.

COSTUMING
Our costumes are designed and created with sustainability at the forefront of the process. We prioritize using recycled fabric materials, recreating with excess fabrics, and also upcycling secondhand items to create our designs.

Atmosphere III costumes are designed and created by sustainable dance wear brand, Imperfect Pointes. 
Atmosphere II pas de deux costumes are created and designed by Erica Johnson

VISUALS
Some of our Atmosphere III performances have included graphics are designed by Jacqui Hinkson. The clips used are a collection of videos that the ACC team has taken from personal archives from experiencing nature, linking the imagery to the dancers as they move in the space.
