Emily Lovdahl

"Learning of how wasteful and cyclical fashion has become was a catalyst for me to become more mindful in my approach to sewing and consuming"

OUR COLLECTION WITH LOVDAHL LEOS HAS SOLD OUT & COME TO A CLOSE.

THANK YOU TO ALL WHO SUPPORTED THIS PROJECT.

Emily Lovdahl is a professional dancer with Festival Ballet Providence, a costume designer, and seamstress.
She has a passion for creating comfortable, creative, and inclusive clothing. Her project consists of an array of repurposed and recycled fabrics that have been made into leotards, shorts, and leggings for everyone.
"Textile and garment production creates significant waste. When sewing new garments, once a pattern is cut out of a piece of fabric, there is unused “scrap” material that is still good, but not always big enough to cut another pattern piece from."
About The Fabrics
  • Reworked "scrap" fabric is a nylon-spandex blend, and all pieces used for this project are remnants leftover from other projects that have been reworked into new designs.
  • Remaining fabric is downcycled into a polyester-spandex blend, made from repurposed yarn.

*Note! This is a limited collection and every design is different depending on the size and shapes of materials and how Emily decides to work them into a cohesive piece.
PROJECT COMPLETED
As seen in photos, patchwork designs are made of "scraps" and larger sections and straps are made from recycled yarn fabric

"One thing we all have in common is that we are here, now, living on Earth as it is today. Our world influences our lives, and our lives influence our art. Climate change has a huge influence on us and this gains more urgency as time passes, yet it feels sometimes that the arts are removed from the conversation and the solution. Artists are determined, open-minded, and creative, our skills and talents are incredibly well-suited to making positive change- be it for the environment, in the fight for equality, and in individual lives."
